The Story of Helm
Mar 19 2017
A while back, the official Deis blog posted The Story of Helm to celebrate Helm's birthday.
Back then, I wrote:
On October 15th, 2015, the project now known as Helm was born. Only one year in, Kubernetes Helm is part of the CNCF, and is marching toward the v2.0.0 release. And in every sense of the word, it is now a community-driven project. But the circumstances behind the creation of Helm read like a script for a Silicon Valley tech comedy.
It's only been a few months, and:
- The 2.0.0 release has come and gone. We're up to the 2.3.0 release now.
- Helm is now the first project to officially graduate from the Kubernetes Incubator.
- We have more than doubled the number of contributors, and have over 1,200 people hanging out in our Slack channel.
But my favorite part about the project remains the same:
This [success] is a credit to the colossal efforts of the Kubernetes community which has transformed this project from a shoddy Deis installer into a power tool for all Kubernetes users.
